Who we are

About TravelNeza

Travel Better. Together.

TravelNeza exists to make travel feel normal. Not a luxury. Not someday. Not for someone else. Just a normal, accessible part of living a full life — available to every East African who has ever thought the world was just slightly out of reach.

We make travel feel possible. For everyone. Right now.

In 2016, our founder Laura Kagame moved to Uganda to work in the airline industry. What she noticed wasn't a lack of money. It was a lack of permission.

“One day I'll travel.” “It's too expensive.” “I don't even know where to start.” “Maybe travel just isn't for people like me.”

She heard it from colleagues, friends, professionals — people who could afford a trip and still weren't taking one. The barrier wasn't resources. It was belief — the quiet, persistent idea that travel was something other people did, people with different passports, different circumstances, different lives.

So in December 2016, TravelNeza was created — not as a travel agency, but as an act of belief. We set out to remove the barriers that stood between people and the world: fixed group departures with rates secured in advance, instalment payment plans so the investment never lands all at once, human travel designers who know both the destination and the traveller, and a community that means you never arrive anywhere as a stranger.

Ten years and more than 5,000 travellers later, that belief has become something real — a community built entirely on trust and word of mouth, with a 70% referral rate and travellers who return three and four times.

We are not simply here to book flights and holidays. We are here to help people experience more of life. Because behind every destination is a story waiting to happen, and behind every booking is a person trusting us with moments they will remember forever.

We are not the biggest travel company in East Africa. We are the most trusted one.

We open the world to East Africans. Starting with the continent at their doorstep.

What we stand for

We don't compete on price. We compete on trust — on knowing our traveller completely, on showing up when something goes wrong instead of disappearing, and on believing that travel is better, and more possible, when it's done together.

Laura Kagame

Laura Kagame

Founder & CEO  |  Destination: Cape Town

"If I were a destination, I would be Cape Town — breathtaking and bold, warm but with an edge, and always with more beneath the surface than what you first see."

In two words: Relentless. Warm.

What I'm genuinely great at: Seeing the full picture before anyone else does — and building toward it anyway.

Something human about me: Beyond building businesses, I'm someone who appreciates the quieter things—exploring charming towns with no agenda, reading in cafés, spending time with friends over board games. I crave beaches, waves, and sunsets the way most people crave coffee. And if a good TV series pulls me in, I'll happily disappear into that world for a while too.

Operations Manager Destination: Nairobi

"If I were a destination, I would be Nairobi — resourceful, always finding a way through, and somehow warm even when things get complicated."

In two words: Humble. Patient.

What I'm genuinely great at: Building trust through follow-through. If I say it will be done, it will be done.

Something human about me: Once I commit to something, I don't let go. That's just how I'm built.

Head of Technology  |  Destination: Singapore

"If I were a destination, I would be Singapore — precise, engineered, nothing accidental. But look closer and there's far more going on beneath the surface."

In two words: Strategic. Builder.

What I'm genuinely great at: Taking a big ambitious idea and building the architecture that makes it real — not just functional, but durable.

Something human about me: I work in digital systems all day. But I'm just as energized by physical things being built—a construction site, a drone in the air, something growing from the ground up.

Travel Designer  |  Destination: Zanzibar

"If I were a destination, I would be Zanzibar — warm with depth, honest and clear, the kind of place people return to not just once but again and again."

In two words: Warm. Perfectionist.

What I'm genuinely great at: Taking raw trip details — a date, a budget, a dream — and turning them into something that makes you feel the destination before you've even booked.

Something human about me: I never settle for the first draft. There's always a slightly better version one more tweak away. That's my quirk and I own it.

Travel Designer  |  Destination: Bwindi

"If I were a destination, I would be Bwindi — not the first place people think of, but quietly extraordinary. You have to be patient to get there. What you find when you do is something rare and real."

In two words: Humble. Focused.

What I'm genuinely great at: Building genuine relationships with travellers — the kind where they trust me completely with something that matters deeply to them.

Something human about me: Once I commit to a goal I stay with it until it's done. No shortcuts. No half measures.

Sandra Karungi

Digital Marketing Executive  |  Destination: Bali

"If I were a destination, I would be Bali — aesthetic without trying too hard, intentional beneath the surface, and somehow always looking good on camera."

In two words: Calm. Sharp.

What I'm genuinely great at: Spotting a trend before it blows up and turning it into content that makes travel feel exciting before you've even started planning.

Something human about me: If Sandra is running it, it's running smoothly. I am organized to a fault and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Eden

Eden

Brand & Creative Designer  |  Destination: Marrakech

"If I were a destination, I would be Marrakech — visually arresting, deeply intentional, every corner a composition. Built for people who appreciate the craft behind things."

 In two words: Resourceful. Dependable.

What I'm genuinely great at: Turning ideas into something tangible and real — a brand, a visual, an experience that people actually remember.

Something human about me: I'm drawn to moments that bring people together. Weddings, milestones, celebrations, community. If it matters to people, it matters to me.

Elizabeth Mutoni

Elizabeth Mutoni

Sales & Marketing Manager  |  Destination: Dubai

"If I were a destination, I would be Dubai — high energy, always dressed for the occasion, ambitious beyond what most people think is possible, and delivering on it."

In two words: Relentlessly driven. Unstoppably charismatic.

What I'm genuinely great at: Walking into a room, reading it completely, and knowing exactly how to connect the right people to the right thing.

Something human about me: I am a passionate Arsenal fan who also walks 20,000 steps a day. Make of that what you will.

We are a team that travels, thinks, argues about itineraries, and genuinely cares about every person who books with us. That's not a line. That's just how we work.

TravelNeza. Travel Better. Together.
